Abstract

The primary aim of this thesis was to characterise the metabolism of apoB containing lipoproteins in various dyslipidaemic states, using stable isotope methodology and multicompartmental modelling techniques. Human apoB kinetics have been extensively studied in normolipidaemic subjects, both using radio-isotope methodology and, more recently, using stable isotope techniques. Radio-isotopes have also been widely used to study various dyslipidaemias, but the use of stable isotopes in such conditions is more limited.
