Abstract

Rhodopseudoaonas acidophila is a species of photosynthetic bacterium which has more than one type of light harvesting complex (LHII). The type and amount of LHII complex synthesised depends upon a variety of environmental factors. This bacterial species therefore provides an excellent model system for examining the response of gene expression to the environment.
