Abstract

Two isomeric, pyridyl based ligands with Dihydro-1H-Imidazo-(1,2-F)-
Phenanthridinium (DIP) moieties have been designed, synthesised and complexed with a
range of CuII salts and their coordination products crystallised both in the presence and
absence of bridging anions. The π stacking interactions of the DIP regions of these ligands
have been shown exhibit a limited number of geometries due to the cationic nature of the
DIP framework and to link the resulting complexes into 1D, 2D or 3D networks in the
crystalline phase.
