Abstract
The exponential increase in the price of crude oil combined with the recent upsurge of public concern over pollution and ecology has led to an increasing commercial interest in polymers that are either dependant on a non-oil based feedstock or are biodegradable. Poly(-(D)-Bhydroxybutyric acid) (PHB) is such a polymer, which combines both these properties.
