Abstract
1. The results of the application of a series of "problem-solving" tests to a group of 70 men who had sustained penetrating brain wounds are analysed. 2. The types of injury which produced deficits in this problem-solving capacity are described. 3. The effect of the injuries on other types of intellectual functioning is considered. 4. The relation of these findings to the nature of the cerebral organisation underlying Intellectual activity is discussed.
