Abstract

The chief part (Part I) of this thesis is divided into three sections. In the first section a short historical survey of theories of the structures of salt hydrates is given, and the reasons for undertaking the present work are outlined. The results of this work are summarized and considered from various points of view in Section II. Full experimental details and measurements are given in the experimental section. The additional paper (Part II) is in two parts: an historical and theoretical section, and the description of the experimental work with detailed results.
