Abstract
The following is a description of the installation and testing of a 2 cm. sphere-gap as a standard of high-voltage measurement in the Electrical Engineering Department of the James Watt Laboratories of Glasgow University. Particular study has been made of the procedure necessary to obtain the greatest possible consistency in the results, and to determine the factors which most affect this consistency. Experiments were continued until, by process of elimination, the only variable factors occurring appeared to be in the quantity measured.
