Abstract
In part one the heredity of myopia,night-blindness and retinitis pigmentosa in association with other defects is discussed. This serves as an introduction to the second part which is concerned with search for genetic linkage relationships in families inheriting both haemophilia and colour-blindness. In the third part three large pedigrees of blue sclerotics, brittle bones and deafness are described. In the largest of these colour-blind individuals were found. This pedigree was examined in detail for blood-group and taste factors in an attempt to establish linkage relationships. The last section is based upon the investigation of five hundred consecutive patients examined primarily for errors of refraction in whom the condition of the ear lobes and iris colour was recorded. A short analysis of this material is made and the section concludes with a pedigree in which all these normal factors were investigated. The thesis is concluded with a note upon the problems discussed and the need for further work on these lines.
