Abstract

Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are electroluminescent carrier injection type devices and must, therefore, contain an electroluminescent layer (EML). Neither fluorescent OLEDs nor phosphorescent OLEDs are ideal as they have a maximum internal quantum efficiency of 25% or a high cost of commercialisation, respectively.

Thermally activated delayed fluorescent OLEDs are highly attractive alternatives as they utilise both singlet and triplet excited states. Herein, lies the synthesis of a range of flavins with calculated TADF potential.
