Abstract

Impurity Induced Disordering (IID), using the neutral impurity fluorine, has been investigated in the InGaAs/InGaAsP quantum well (QW) system. The object of the thesis was to produce a method to intermix quantum well structures selectively in order to produce low loss optical waveguides suitable for the integration of photonic and optoelectronic devices.
