Abstract

This thesis is concerned with the application of modern direct methods techniques to the solution of difficult structures. The methods employed have been incorporated into the multisolution computer program, MULTAN, thereby producing a comprehensive package which is capable of supplying the crystallographic user with a means of solving the most obstinate of structures.
