Abstract
The four works which make up the portfolio demonstrate pieces of varying lengths and complexity, written for a range of contrasting ensembles. The pieces are included in chronological order, based upon their completion; in this way I hope to demonstrate how I have been able to experiment with different approaches to composition in the shorter pieces, and then develop these ideas in the piece As silent as a Mirror is Believed, which forms the bulk of the portfolio.
