Abstract
This thesis investigates the coinage of Apollonia and Dyrrhachium which is an area of numismatics that is much understudied considering the importance of these two cities to ancient peoples and civilisations. The secondary aim of this thesis is to complete a corpus of all the coins of these cities from the coin collections in Great Britain, and bring them up-to-date with current numismatic practice.
This work provides a detailed discussion of the iconography found on the coins of Apollonia and Dyrrhachium, two important cities in the ancient world, and discusses the history in line with best current numismatic practice. It provides a clear and concise record and catalogue of the coinage of Apollonia and Dyrrhachium in British published collections.
