Abstract

At the commencement of the research work reported here, disagreement existed in the published literature between values of the thermodynamic activity of silica in slags determined by different workers. Activity values obtained through direct pressure measurements on reaction (l), differed in magnitude by 4, 1 from the silica activities obtained through a distribution study of the silicon/silica ratio in reaction (2) at 1600
