Abstract
I here examine Sartre's philosophy, as it has developed from his early works to his later works, as providing us with a view of the human being as a "freedom." In Part 1, I examine Sartre's view in Being and Nothingness of the human being as an integrated conscious bodily existent or ontological freedom. In Part 2, I examine Sartre's Psychology of the Imagination and Sketch for a Theory of the Emotions as concrete applications of the Being and Nothingness approach. In Part 3, I examine how Sartre in Search for a Method situates the human being in society but retains his perspective of freedom.
