Abstract
The subject matter of this thesis (the elucidation of the mechanism of the aromatisation of diacetylenes end related species) may be divided into three sections, each dealing respectively with the arometisation, by treatment with strong base, of linear diacetylenes, cyclic C8 diacetylene equivalents, and cyclic C12 or C14 diacetylenes or their equivalents.
