Abstract
This thesis describes the preparation, identification and some reactions of substituted derivatives of iodine pentafluoride. Some data on the rate of fluorine exchange between WF5X (X = OMe or OPh) and Me3SiF using an 18F radioactive tracer technique has been obtained with a view to future application of this technique to iodine(v) fluorides. Perfluoroalhyliodides are oxidised to the corresponding perfluoroalhyliodine(V) tetrafluoride by chlorine trifluoride in C6F14 at -78
